Child Care Choices is a new Crystal Stairs program created to reduce justice system involvement for young children by supporting families with access to quality child care and education in communities impacted by poverty and incarceration.
This program aims to…
- Offer stable, nurturing child care to support children’s development.
- Give parents more time to heal, work, pursue education, or attend reentry programs.
- Reduce financial stress to help prevent recidivism.

Families
We welcome you to apply for free child care if ANY of these apply, even if you do not have a history of incarceration in your family:
- Anyone in your family has been impacted by the justice system.
- You live in the following zip codes: 90052, 90058, 90059, 90002.
- You or anyone in your family have faced challenges that may increase the risk of involvement with the justice system.
- You have children up to 12 years old.
We believe children, and their family legacies, should not be defined by incarceration. Our hope is to interrupt intergenerational cycles of incarceration, build community resilience through education and empowerment, and strengthen early childhood systems to serve justice-impacted families.
